This is a book about consequences, and maybe what happens when you worry too much about them, and whether you can control them in any case.Xavier Ireland is a radio DJ with a call-in show who talks to listeners about their problems in the early hours of the morning. He's always ready with sensible advice to help but in his life outside of work he'd rather not get involved. This all starts to change when he gets a new cleaner. This is not an easy book to characterise. It's not funny as such and it's not primarily a relationship book although there's a lot in it about that. It deals with a chain of events which starts because of Xavier's inaction. It also looks back to his past when a particular action had an entirely different chain of consequences and how that has shaped him. This is a book that's warm about its characters and empathetic. For that it's worth your time.
